After visiting Yellowstone National Park, we headed south to Colorado and decided to stop in Boulder first. Boulder is famous for its stunning mountain backdrop, outdoor activities, and liberal vibe. The town also has a vibrant open-air mall with lots of street performers.
We then explored the nearby Rocky Mountain National Park, which offers breathtaking views of the Rockies. We navigated one of the unpaved roads up the mountain and were amazed by the steep, incredible views. During our drive, we even spotted a beaver.
On our way back, we paused at a small town called Nederland. It’s amusing because “Nederland” is how we Dutch spell our country’s name, which means “low land,” a stark contrast to this high-altitude town!
Back in Boulder, we had a blast tubing. It’s not just lazily floating down a river; the whitewater had fast currents, small waterfalls, and rocks, making it feel like a thrilling obstacle course. We fell into the cold water multiple times and got a few scratches, but the experience was hilarious—especially when my husband lost his tube and chased after it.
He went back for another run, and I recorded him nearly losing his tube again. He had to do a ‘superman’ dive to retrieve it. The video is quite funny.
One of the best things about traveling is meeting friends. I got to catch up with Ana, aka Mrs. American Made, who’s been featured many times on this site. She’s just as wonderful in person as she is online, and she and her family truly enjoy the Boulder lifestyle. Of course, we squeezed in a mini-photoshoot during our meet-up.
Here’s what I wore: my trusty 7/8 pants from Zara and a blue top from In Good Company, paired with a black skirt.
Next, we’re headed to Denver!
Have you ever been to Boulder? What did you do?
