Today, I’m starting a new series on 40+ style, where I’ll show you how to mimic your style icon’s look. Keeping an eye on a few style icons you admire can be really helpful. These women can give you fresh ideas on how to put together outfits and encourage you to experiment with your clothing. They can also help you understand your own style better. Knowing what you like about someone’s style can guide your fashion choices and reduce buying mistakes, making you happier with your wardrobe.
One of my style icons is fashion consultant Yasmin Sewell. Her style is innovative, fashion-forward, elegant, arty, and unconventional, which I find very appealing. Barney’s was so impressed with her fashion sense that they invited her to design her own collection exclusively for them.
Here are some key aspects of her style:
– Bold tops paired with knee-length A-line skirts and kitten-heeled booties.
– Knee-high or over-the-knee A-line skirts and dresses.
– Long and short jackets with a manly influence.
– Androgynous elements.
– Comfortable, slightly boxy tops.
– Stylish, statement shoes, usually with heels.
– Occasionally, a statement necklace.
Yasmin often combines knee-high or over-the-knee skirts with bold blousy tops that are short enough to hint at the waist. She likes tops that make a statement. If her outfit is neutral, she emphasizes her shoes.
Yasmin excels at mixing masculine and feminine styles, achieving the perfect balance in her outfits, with shoes playing a crucial role.
I can’t wait to see Yasmin’s outfits during the upcoming fashion weeks. She always inspires me! I’ll be tracking her fashion on a special Pinterest board called “Style Crush Yasmin Sewell.” If you love her style too, make sure to follow it.
Right now, you can find clothes inspired by Yasmin Sewell in stores. This Monday, I’ll show you an outfit of mine inspired by her.
If there’s a style icon you’d like me to feature in this series, let me know!
