I’ve been on the hunt for bright colors to add to my wardrobe. My closet was seriously lacking in color, so I decided to hit the stores last week to fix that.
I didn’t want to spend a fortune on trendy clothes in bright colors, so I checked out budget-friendly shops like H&M and Mango. While browsing, I found a lot of youthful clothes made from cheap fabrics. This got me thinking, “Can women over 40 only buy expensive clothes?” I even wrote an article about synthetic fabrics like polyester and included a list of their properties.
In the end, I scored several colorful pieces from H&M, Mango, and other shops, and I’ve put together a bright wardrobe capsule. I’ll be sharing all the details in my article tomorrow.
During my shopping spree, I also came across this bright green draped dress from local designer Sabrina Goh. It was a great addition to my new colorful collection and cost only $79, so I bought it. You can see some of the other pieces from my capsule in the image above.
This dress is totally my style. It’s asymmetrical, versatile, and covers most of my knees. Though I’m not showing it here, it also looks great over pants, which is another look I love. You can wear this dress in multiple ways, so it’s hard to get bored with it.
I like the dress belted, as shown above, or with the belt that comes with it. I think it looks fun with a dropped waist, although it appears a bit messy in the image. The dress buttons at the side, but you can also wear it loose. You’ll also notice my new shoes. They were a bit of a splurge, but they fit perfectly with my new colorful wardrobe. Shoe shopping in Singapore can be challenging.
I initially wanted the green Nine West shoes I mentioned earlier, but they weren’t available in the stores here. I also have a tricky shoe size, fluctuating between 9 and 10, and finding larger sizes can be tough. Most stores seem to stock only one pair in size 9, which is usually gone quickly.
Luckily, I found these yellow shoes from Max & Co, and they had my size. They’re high quality, so I hope they’ll last a long time.
And here’s what happens when a bit of wind catches the dress. With a bit of creativity and more wind, you could capture some really interesting pictures.
If you’re interested in getting a draped dress yourself, I’ve picked out a selection of draped dresses that you can buy right now. Don’t forget to check out my new bright wardrobe capsule tomorrow!
Are you planning to wear bright colors this Spring and Summer?
