Enhancing Pale Tones with Vibrant Style

I went to a pretty interesting sale last weekend. Club 21 was hosting a big designer label event featuring a lot of my favorite brands. I couldn’t resist and had to check it out. Of course, I ended up with quite a few goodies.

One of my finds was an old pink Calvin Klein dress. Even though I’ve been trying to buy brighter colors lately because they suit me better now, I just couldn’t pass this one up. It had some of my favorite design features like asymmetry, a dropped waist, and knee-high length. And at just $40, it was a steal!

To make up for the lack of color, I opted for colorful accessories near my face. I chose a color tube necklace from Lydia Bremer’s One Makes Two collection. I have four tubes in different colors that you can mix and match into a short necklace, a longer one (with a knot) like I’m wearing here, or even a bracelet. It’s super versatile and adds a fun, modern touch to the dress.

I added more color with my red shoes, red handbag, a watch with a yellow band, and a red cardigan. For those in colder climates, you can wear this dress in the winter over red skinny pants, paired with a jacket or cardigan, and little booties.

I wore the dress to a presentation by a French delegation visiting Singapore to discuss the latest Macro trends in Design & Fashion. The trends they highlighted included:

– Storytelling: Delving into history to create new narratives and let people escape into a fantasized past or wonderful present.
– Sense: Reflecting on our lives, being sensitive to the future, and expanding on a thoughtful philosophy.
– Fun: Embracing a playful approach to life, enjoying new experiences, and adventures.
– New Cool: Making activities that are usually considered popular the new chic.
– Connectivity: Continuously pushing for higher levels of sharing, mixing, and traveling.

Listening to the French delegation was really fun and inspiring. My only regret is that I couldn’t take any photos since everyone there looked incredibly stylish!

Do you ever feel tempted to buy clothes in colors that aren’t the best for you? How do you make up for it?
