Wow, it’s already 2019!
Are you pumped for the year ahead, or are you feeling a bit down because 2018 didn’t quite go as planned? For me, the end of the year is a time to reflect on what’s passed and think about what I want to achieve in the upcoming year.
I like to ponder over my lifestyle, career aspirations, freedom goals, and even my personal style. Instead of making strict resolutions, I think about where I’d like to be by the end of this year and what I hope to accomplish.
You might want to do the same, taking stock of your family, friendships, health, work, and yes, your personal style. How you dress can actually influence these areas of your life more than you might think. Feeling good about your style can boost your confidence and have a positive ripple effect.
When I’m happy with what I’m wearing, I often feel like I can face the world with more self-assurance.
Looking Back at 2018
If setting style goals is your thing, start by reflecting on the past year.
– What outfits made you feel amazing?
– What clothes didn’t work out?
– What gaps did you notice in your wardrobe?
– Did you buy too much or too little?
– What suits your personality and body type?
– Do you have enough accessories to complete your look?
– How well did you keep up with grooming?
– Is your hairstyle current?
– What words define your style?
Setting Style Goals for 2019
What do you want to achieve style-wise this year? How do you want to look and feel? What areas of your style need improvement? Do you plan to spend more or less in 2019? If you could define your year with one word, what would it be?
Here Are Some of My Answers
Style Goals: While I added some great colors and prints, I want to return to my graphical roots, focusing on simplicity and outfits with solid colors. Quality over quantity is key for me.
Look and Feel: I aim to feel comfortable, stylish, and a bit trendy.
Areas to Improve: Simplify my wardrobe by keeping only the clothes I love. Focus on statement earrings and comfortable yet stylish shoes. My clothes should have an edge and represent my unique self.
Spending: I didn’t spend much last year, so I plan to spend about the same this year.
Word for the Year: Simplicity. I want to simplify all aspects of my life.
Some of My Favorite Outfits from Last Year:
– A Cos skirt that’s light, easy to wear, and frequently complimented.
– A Cos dress that channels an Audrey Hepburn vibe, stretchy and airy but better defined with a belt.
– A Zara short dress worn as a tunic, adding an arty touch to black and white attire.
– Simple, plain-colored tops with interesting design details, like one from In Good Company.
– A Diane von Furstenberg top and Paige jeans that are versatile and stylish.
– An older tunic worn over Uniqlo leggings, still a favorite.
– A Celine skirt bought secondhand in New York, made edgier with Fly London shoes.
