I recently shared my thoughts on how to style a long vest and why it’s a fantastic addition to anyone’s wardrobe. Long vests are excellent for layering and can create interesting, elongated lines. I particularly fell in love with an asymmetrical long vest from Stella Carakasi.
This vest is incredibly versatile. I mostly wore it indoors because it was too chilly to wear it outside without a large coat over it. However, it can work outdoors if you layer some thicker sweaters underneath.
Even though pastels aren’t usually my thing, I enjoyed pairing these soft colors with white. The vest also looks great with my faux leather skirt. When the weather isn’t too cold, a blanket scarf can add warmth to your outfit.
Long vests pair nicely with dresses too. Keeping your entire outfit in the same color can create a sleek, long, lean look.
I also tried wearing the vest belted while I was in The Netherlands, and that turned out to be one of my favorite ways to style it. There’s even a summer version of this vest that I love.
Now, here’s a style challenge for you: create an outfit featuring a sleeveless or long vest. Get creative with your layers to shape a great silhouette or a long, lean line. You might also want to experiment with a monochromatic look. Try to come up with two unique outfits.
