The Surge of Sailor Pants in Siem Reap, Cambodia

Today, I’ve got some unexpected photos from my trip to the beautiful Siem Reap in Cambodia. If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you might know that I went on a short vacation there during the Chinese New Year public holidays. Siem Reap has been a must-visit on our list for quite some time, and this break was the perfect chance to explore it.

The main draw of Siem Reap is undoubtedly its ancient temples like Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. I’ve shared some pictures of these temples and the village I visited on my personal site and the 40+ Style Facebook page. If you’re curious about Siem Reap, you can check them out for more details.

Now, let’s dive into what I wore. Regular readers of my blog know I’m a big fan of wide-legged (sailor) pants. You’ve probably seen my favorite white ones a few times. When I saw these sailor pants at a huge discount during the Alldressedup sale, I grabbed them in two colors.

Normally, I wouldn’t go for orange pants, but since orange is the trending color for 2012, I thought why not embrace it, even if it’s not exactly the tangerine shade in vogue. The trousers were affordable, and I love this style, so I decided to have some fun with this trendy color!

Orange can be tricky to wear, but you can always pair it with white. I recently wrote an article on how to wear orange with some tips on color combinations. On this hot day, comfort was key, so I chose a flowy, thin cotton shirt and layered it with a black top underneath for a graphical and playful twist.

On the second day, I kept things even simpler, wearing the blue version of the sailor pants with my white Zara top with black lines. The necklace added a nice pop of color and fun to the outfit. The blue pants are definitely easier to mix and match with other items in my closet.

While my hat might not be the most stylish, it was definitely practical in the scorching heat, offering much-needed protection from the sun!

My trip to Siem Reap was wonderful. The temples were awe-inspiring, the locals were incredibly friendly, and our hotel just outside Siem Reap was charming and serene. Taking photos for the blog was both a challenge and a joy, and I hope you enjoyed them. If you want to pin them to your Pinterest board, the pin button is right at the top of the post.
