Merging Vintage Charm With Modern Flair – Styling Blue And White With Vibrant Accents

Today, I’m mixing something old with something new. Adding fresh pieces to your wardrobe often leads to rediscovering old favorites that pair perfectly with them.

I was drawn to this jacket because of its unique asymmetrical design, but I hadn’t really figured out how to style it. Although I have a few ideas (like pairing it with my black silk pants), on this particular day, I decided to wear it with a skirt.

Inspired by my recent article on blue and white combinations, I looked through my closet for something similar. I found this old top and skirt from Alldressedup that I hadn’t worn in a while, even though they were featured on the site a few years ago. The structured, stiff fabric of the top provided a nice contrast to the flowing, draped fabric of the skirt. Admittedly, I didn’t tuck in the blouse properly, causing a bit of a twist. Just imagine the outfit without that twist!

For accessories and shoes, instead of sticking strictly to blue and white for a chic look, I decided to add a bit of color for some fun and quirkiness. My multi-colored and patterned shoes from Chie Mihara were perfect for that. To complete the look, I added an old fabric necklace from Verily, a simple golden bangle, and bordeaux sunglasses. My handbag has some green in it, adding to the colorful mix, but I think it all works together.

I’ve also been experimenting with my hair, embracing my natural waves. Some days, I manage to keep the frizz at bay, but on this day, I was in a rush and didn’t quite get it right. I’ll keep experimenting and once I figure out the best way to style it, I’ll share my tips with you.

Top and skirt: Alldressedup (old)
Jacket: c/o Stella Carakasi
Shoes: Chie Mihara (old)
Necklace: Elitzia (old)
Handbag: Brand unknown, bought in Italy

I’m really excited to find a new combination for my top and skirt from Alldressedup, and I also look forward to pairing the jacket with other items in my closet. Do you often find yourself giving new life to old pieces when you bring something new into your wardrobe?
