Chic and Stylish in Gray, White, and Wide Cropped Pants!

Two weeks ago, I got an invite to the launch of a new TV show here in Singapore called Fit for Fashion. This reality TV series, backed by the GREAT Britain campaign, features 12 contestants from diverse backgrounds. They’ll take on various fitness and fashion challenges designed to push them to their limits. Over the course of 10 episodes, a panel of celebrity judges will provide guidance and motivation. The judges include host and British fashion journalist Louise Roe, trainer Christine Bullock, trainer Mitch Chilson, and fashion photographer Todd Anthony Tyler.

Louise Roe, whom many might recognize from the Style or E networks, presents the show. I met two of the contestants at the event. One of them shared that she started the show feeling very timid and insecure, but Fit for Fashion helped her gain confidence.

There was also another Sylvia, looking very stylish in her fitted dress. She works for the British High Commission and talked about their campaign, Shopping Is Great (Britain), which promotes British designers in Singapore.

The launch event took place at the stunning residence of the British High Commissioner, making it a perfect spot for some outfit photos. Anja looked colorful in a lovely flower dress, while I opted for a neutral look.

You might be surprised to see me in short wide cropped pants! Despite always advising against them because they can make your legs look short, I also encourage breaking fashion ‘rules’ now and then. I’ve seen these pants, a mix between shorts and culottes, all over the runway and couldn’t resist their fun and trendy silhouette.

Of course, you need to be mindful of what you pair them with. They look best with a short fitted top to maintain a 1/3 – 2/3 proportion. A wider, longer top would just overwhelm the figure. I jokingly call these my man repeller pants, though a few men I asked surprisingly liked them (maybe they were just being polite).

While these pants aren’t the most flattering when standing, they’re even less so when sitting or bending. But I’ll show you that another day.

Fit for Fashion will start airing in Singapore from October 16 on the Starworld network.
