Mastering the Art of Draping: Styling a Jacket as a Cape

Lately, I’ve been noticing more women wearing their jackets draped over their shoulders like capes. This trend gained traction after Gwyneth Paltrow wore a Tom Ford cape to the Oscars last year.

The cape-style jacket was also featured on the fall runways, with Hermes showcasing it in their collection, and Victoria Beckham designing a jacket similar to a cape. Wendy from Wendy’s Lookbook and Nina Garcia have also been seen sporting this style. During Singapore’s recent fashion week, Jeannie Mai wore her jacket this way for the entire evening, even presenting a show segment with it.

Personally, I’m on the fence about this look. It doesn’t seem very comfortable and feels a bit “temporary” to me. At the same time, it has a relaxed, sporty, and modern vibe. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!

Why not make this a fun challenge for the week? Try wearing your jackets as capes. If it’s not really your thing, give it a shot for 15 minutes and snap a photo to see how it feels. You can always go back to wearing your jacket the usual way for the rest of the day.

Who knows? You might end up loving it. Fashion is all about experimenting and having fun, so let’s try this look out.

How to Achieve This Look:
– Take any jacket and wear it as a cape over your top.
– If you prefer, you can use a cardigan.
– Stick to black and white looks, or experiment with other color combinations.
– If you have an actual cape, go ahead and wear that!

I’ll be joining this challenge too and will share my experience. What do you think about this style? Are you going to give it a try?
