Today, I’m highlighting two items I rarely wear: a white dress and black leggings.
I avoid long leggings because I’m not a big fan and they’re usually too hot for Singapore’s climate. But this time, I wore them to the cinema where it’s always freezing inside.
I don’t think I’ve ever worn a formal white dress before. I do have a casual white dress, but I only use it on holidays. While I’m comfortable with white trousers, wearing a white dress feels entirely different.
When I saw a CK Calvin Klein dress on sale, I decided to give it a try. It’s risky to buy uncertain items during sales, but the discount was steep, making it worth the experiment.
I’m happy with how the outfit turned out. Black and white is always stylish, even with simple leggings. The dress makes the leggings look a bit more elegant. I paired the outfit with a hat to hide a bad hair day, and it matched well.
I like the outfit in pure black and white paired with a big black zippered bag, but for a pop of color, my Heleen van der Meer bag is perfect. I do wish I’d chosen blue this time since I’ve been using the green a lot lately.
You can wear this outfit with both heels and flats. Open-toes pumps can make your legs look longer and go well with leggings. Flat ballerinas, on the other hand, make the outfit more casual and the legs appear a bit shorter, though the overall look still suits my body type.
This outfit works for any age. If you’ve never tried wearing a dress over leggings or pants, I encourage you to give it a shot. It might even be a good topic for our next fashion challenge!
