Transitioning Stripes from Daytime to Nighttime Elegance

You might notice something funny about these pictures. Yes, they’re all crooked, but at least they’re sharp! I was unhappy with the quality of the images taken on my terrace, and rotating them wouldn’t work because it would cut off my feet and head. I find these quirky images fun, and I hope you do too!

Today, my outfit is very stripey, transitioning from casual to chic for the evening. I’m in a Chanel, blue, and generally understated mode, making this outfit perfect for me. It’s also super comfy, with a flexible cotton jersey hugging my curves. I recently grabbed this wide-striped skirt when my friend Anja convinced me to check out her favorite store, H&M. It’s not a place I usually shop, but I enjoyed seeing so many runway trends there, and it’s really affordable too.

The top dress is one of my casual beach dresses, which I got for cheap. It’s comfy and perfect for casual occasions. When I wanted to wear my new striped skirt to a casual gathering, I was thrilled to see it matched my other striped dress almost perfectly. It’s always great to find matching pieces for something you just bought.

For a casual event like a fair, I wanted something sporty, comfortable, but not boring. Matching the skirt and dress felt like the perfect choice for a casually chic outfit. I wished for a big orange bag to go with it, but since I didn’t have one, I used my big comfy black bag. For the photo, I paired it with a little orange mini bag I picked up in Cambodia, showing the transformation from casual to evening look.

When I saw this wide-striped skirt for only $12, I was very tempted. Later, I found out there’s also a dress in the same pattern. It’s too short to wear alone, but combined with the skirt, it looks like a long knee-length dress. Sweet! It’s form-fitting yet comfortable with the two layers, hiding imperfections.

To add some glam, I wore an orange necklace, a cute hat, high heels, a gifted bracelet, and my orange mini bag. I’m pleased with the result, especially with a total spend of only $25. I’m definitely a happy mama!

I can see many ways to mix and match these pieces. They’d look great with white pants, white blouses, orange tops, and of course, red. The possibilities are endless. This was a great little find, and the good news is it might still be available in stores near you.

Which look do you like best, casual or evening?
