A Comprehensive Look at the Dressing Your Truth Program and Its Impact

Update: This review is 8 years old, and I’m not familiar with the current state of the Dressing Your Truth process or course. While the initial assessment was enjoyable, I don’t think it helps define your personal style or improve your dressing habits. It just categorizes you into one of four groups. For a deeper understanding and development of your unique style, I recommend the 40+Style course: 21 Steps to a More Stylish You.

I was invited to take the Dressing Your Truth profile test and complete their course. Today, I’ll share more about my profile and the full course.

What Is My Profile?

While watching all the beauty profiling videos, I tried to figure out my own type. I found it easier to eliminate profiles rather than choose one, based on Carol’s insights. Despite recognizing traits in all four profiles, it quickly became clear that I’m predominantly a Type 3. This was my initial impression from seeing Carol and her style, which became more obvious as the course went on. However, I also have a lot of Type 4 in me.

What Does It Mean To Be A Type 3?

Type 3 is characterized as the rich and dynamic woman. Some traits include:

– Primary element: Hydrogen/Fire
– Primary Movement: Active, Reactive
– Natural Gift: Action—“Let’s get to work and get it done!”
– Dominant Quality: Swiftly moving towards desired outcomes.
– Beauty Code Word: Hot!

Type 3 personalities can be competitive, intense, and task-oriented, often forgetting about the people involved. We’re passionate, compulsive, value honest communication, and prefer getting straight to the point.

What Will You Learn In The Dressing Your Truth Course?

After discovering your beauty profile, you’ll take the course specific to your type. You’ll learn about the five elements to dress true to your nature:

– Design lines
– Texture
– Fabrication
– Pattern
– Color/Chroma

The course also covers the right jewelry, makeup, and hairstyle for your type.

How Will I Apply These Findings To My Own Life?

I was surprised by how accurate the findings seemed to me. The uneven lines, asymmetry, and colors just felt right. I recently bought a colorful wardrobe capsule in bright colors because I knew those weren’t truly ‘my colors,’ but I wanted to enjoy them temporarily. These bright colors align with my secondary Type 4. However, I knew adding more color to my wardrobe was a good choice.

This experience deepened my understanding of my style personality and which colors, lines, and patterns suit me. While I won’t strictly follow the guidelines, I’ll incorporate them as they feel right. I still enjoy trends and expressing parts of myself that aren’t entirely me, which is part of my dynamic nature. My style statement remains “modern freedom.”

I plan to include more of my Type 3 colors, embrace bold and bulky necklaces, and choose garments with strong triangular lines and asymmetry. I’ll also reconsider my hairstyle to add more texture, as I’m still not completely satisfied with it.

Your Experience?

For those who have started the assessment, how is it going? Have you discovered your type? Any significant realizations?
