Today, I want to show you a few more variations from my winter capsule wardrobe and invite you to join a mini challenge and a new private Facebook group!
Initially, I planned to start a new style challenge at the beginning of December, but life’s interruptions made it impossible at this time. However, I promise it will happen in the new year—it’ll be fun and exciting!
I’m excited to introduce a new Private Facebook group, which I think will make interacting within the 40+ Style community a lot easier. Many of you were hesitant to post pictures of yourselves publicly or found uploading difficult on the old style forum, so I believe this private Facebook format will be perfect. This group will replace the old style forum and will be open to previous forum members and style course members only.
I think this private style forum will be a great opportunity to learn from both me and other participants. Sharing images and ideas can greatly help in evolving your style. If you’re not a member yet, consider joining now!
Mini Challenge
While the main challenge is on hold, why not join our mini challenge?
You’ve seen my winter capsule wardrobe, so why not create something similar from your existing clothes? Start with a basic winter wardrobe capsule:
– 2 pants
– 1 skirt
– 2 light tops (for layering too)
– 2 warmer tops
– 1 blouse (for layering too)
– 1 blazer or jacket
– 1 coat
– 2 scarves (one silk/polyester and one warm)
You can go far with just these items, but for extra fun and variation, you could add:
– 1 long vest or sleeveless coat
– 1 dress
– 1 pair of boyfriend jeans
– 1 fancy light top
– 1 pair of tights or leggings (for the dress or vest)
– 1 poncho
– 3 layering tops
Your Challenge!
Create your wardrobe capsule for the next 3 weeks and show me what you wear. Use my capsule as an example and try to create similar outfits.
If creating a whole capsule seems like too much work, just show me an outfit similar to what I’m wearing! Today’s and tomorrow’s outfit formula is simple: pants (I’m wearing skinnies) plus a nice top (my pick is an asymmetrical top). I’m sure you have something similar!
Your Special Challenge
Make a simple outfit interesting. For example, choose a top that’s interesting in itself (with drape or asymmetry) or add an accessory like jewelry or a scarf.
Here, I’ve shown two more variations on how you can style this kind of top. A drapy top is super comfy and perfect for when it’s not too cold. On colder days or when you go outside, just add a versatile blanket scarf!
Join The Mini Challenge And Show Me Your Looks!
Show me your looks by uploading them to the private Facebook forum, the 40+Style Facebook page, or by adding a link to your photo in the comments below. If you’ve assembled your own capsule wardrobe, I’d love to see those images too. I might even share some in the next mini challenge post!
Upload an image of you wearing pants and a top for Monday and Tuesday, then create two more outfits from this capsule for Wednesday.
Have fun dressing up, ladies! I look forward to seeing you on Facebook or in the comments section.
Clothing details for the entire capsule are:
– Aubergine top: Stella Carakasi
– Cream skinnies: Zara
– Scarf: Zara
– Gray top: Stella Carakasi
– Shoes: Laura Bellariva
– Necklace: Suzanne Carillo
Do you like to wear skinnies with just a top? What’s your current favorite combo?
