A Chic Encounter with Style Blogger Stephanie in Austin

In Austin this week, I had the great pleasure of meeting Stephanie Clayton, a very stylish woman in her 40s who you might know from her site, Odyssey Home. I’ve featured her before in my style lesson series about looking great with a minimal wardrobe.

Stephanie looked fantastic, as usual, in one of her signature Rick Owens outfits. She wore a short dress and shorts with some amazing shoes.

I took the chance to snap a few photos of her and even got her to smile, which she rarely does in her own pictures. It wasn’t difficult because she’s such a fun and sweet person! She was willing to pose and be silly, which I love about style bloggers—they’re no longer shy about posing!

We had lunch at a lovely cafe that Stephanie recommended, and we chatted about Austin, her art, my trip to New Orleans, and the reasons we blog. Time flew by, and I wished we could’ve talked longer. I really enjoyed hearing about her experiences in Austin, a city she recently moved to, and her life as a blogger. I regret not asking her more about her style or recording her responses for a video. I need to make a checklist for when I meet fellow bloggers to avoid missing these opportunities!

For our meeting, I wore one of my favorite short dresses, paired with a hat to shield me from the sun and hide my messy hair. This hat has been a holiday staple for me, along with my Alldressedup necklace. I almost wore my new funky shoes but opted for my more practical Zara sandals instead.

Another essential for this trip has been my white jacket. Even though it’s hot in places like Texas and New Mexico, the air conditioning indoors is freezing. So, I always carry a cardigan or jacket with me.

We had a fantastic afternoon, and I’m so glad we met up. It’s wonderful getting to know fellow bloggers better in person, especially those you’ve followed online for a while. One of the great things about blogging is connecting with people from all over the world.

Be sure to check out Stephanie’s website, Odyssey Home, as well as her personal site and art journal.
