Sailing Through Amsterdam's Charm: Tips for Boat Trip Attire!

I’m back in Singapore, filled with fantastic memories and a bunch of holiday photos to go through. I still want to share more photos from my Namibia trip, as I promised, and a few taken inside my house. But first, let’s start with some pictures from a recent outing that’s fresh in my mind.

Last week, I had a special visitor from Canada, Suzanne Carillo. Together with my friends Anja and Greetje, we had several fun get-togethers. One of the highlights was a special day on the water in Amsterdam, thanks to Greetje’s husband, Ron, who owns a boat.

Ron kindly took us around, and as you can see, Suzanne was very grateful. We also had another special guest: Ron’s dog, Charlie.

For our boat trip, we dressed in a nautical style. Suzanne went for a casual yet sexy look, while Anja wore white leggings with a printed tunic. I opted for my trusty white capris with an old lilac linen tunic, though it wasn’t the smartest choice to avoid looking wrinkled.

Exploring Amsterdam by boat is one of my favorite ways to see the city, especially on a beautiful day. Back when I lived in Amsterdam, my husband and I, along with some friends, used to own a smaller boat and would regularly enjoy summer outings.

Amsterdam, built on water, has many places to explore. You can cruise along main canals like Singel, Herengracht, and Prinsengracht, or travel through the infamous red-light district. Along the way, you can admire the people you meet, join in on bachelor party fun, spot some animals, or visit newly developed dock and warehouse areas featuring unique architecture where owners design their own homes.

You might stop in the Jordaan area for a delicious apple pie with cream. Then, get back on the boat and spot plenty of bridges, a few churches, a couple of windmills, or a historical boat near the Scheepvaart museum. There’s also the futuristic Nemo science museum or the animals in Amsterdam’s zoo, Artis.

A boat trip offers the chance to discover areas you wouldn’t normally see and makes it easy to admire beautiful houses and architecture like the Amsterdam Opera building, The Stopera, the old Central Station, or special artworks.

After a lovely dinner at a restaurant where you can park your boat, cuddle with each other, and admire a stylish lady, Ron finally dropped us off at the Central Station. We then headed to our car to go back home.

We had a magnificent day, and a big thank you to Ron for coping with four women all day and showing us around. It’s a day I will never forget!
