Which Type of Shopper Matches Your Style?

I like spending money on clothes, but I rarely go all out. I usually stick to affordable brands and prefer to buy pricier items when they’re on sale. If I do splurge on something expensive, it’s usually for a special occasion. However, I generally buy things I really like. Luckily, I don’t feel the need for expensive diamond rings or luxury items from designers like Prada. Or maybe I would like some Prada clothes, but I think their prices are just too high for what you get.

What counts as not splurging for me might seem like overspending to someone who shops at thrift stores or doesn’t shop often. It’s all pretty subjective. When I say I don’t splurge, I’m comparing myself to friends or people I know who spend way more on clothes. But I’m sure there are also many people, like my husband, who spend a lot less than I do on clothing and accessories.

I think everyone has their own threshold for spending on clothes. It’s influenced by our income levels and personal beliefs about how much we should spend.

Is it worth spending a lot on clothes? Will it make me happier? Or is it just about filling another need? To control my spending, I examine everything in my closet before buying something new. Do I already have similar items? Do I really need this? How will it enhance my wardrobe? I also wear my nicest clothes when shopping and only buy things that are nicer than what I’m wearing.

It’s all about finding the right balance. I think it’s important to spend on yourself and create a wardrobe with wonderful things to wear. Feeling good about your appearance can make you feel better overall. But I don’t believe in spending just for the sake of it. Buying clothes should be done thoughtfully and with planning.

There’s a time and place for impulse buys, but it shouldn’t become a habit. I probably buy more than I need, partly because I work in fashion with this blog, and I spend within my means. I know that clothes and my appearance matter to me—it’s just part of who I am. I like having new, trendy items regularly. Still, I have to control myself. Just because I like a unique necklace doesn’t mean I have to buy it. Sometimes, it’s enough to just admire something.

How do you feel about this topic? What kind of spender are you? Do you save your money or are you a big spender? Do you think spending a lot on clothes is indulgent? Do you always buy what you like? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. What kind of shopper are you?
